That's right ladies, Valentine's day is right around the corner. It's one of those holidays that either receive tremendous amounts of smiles or the occasional side eye.

But who's to say Valentine's day is only for couples?

Despite contrary belief, Valentine's day is for single girls too! At its core, Valentine's day is here to serve the true concept of love.

Just because you don't have an immediate companion, it doesn't mean that you can't partake in the loving festivities.

I wasn't always married...Shocker! So I know a thing or two about celebrating Valentine's day without a partner. And you already know how I feel about aimless looking for a soul mate within my latest post, so I am all for being solo dolo.

I've compiled the perfect guide for "surviving" Valentine's day as a single girl.

What can you do on Valentines day when you are single?

  1. Paint Nite

What better way to express your feelings, than to paint it out. Art is a highly expressive activity that requires you to tap into your innermost self. This Valentine's day find a painting that resonates with you and choose to replicate it. Who knows Valentine's day might become the day you create an award winning art piece. To find a paint night near you check the link here: https://www.paintnite.com/

Maybe painting in a room full of strangers isn't your cup of tea. Now worries girl, you can find all of the materials you need at a local craft store to freestyle a painting.

    2. Dance Party

You are never too young or too old to bust a move. Especially in the comfort of your own home. Make a playlist of all of your favorite tunes and turn up that bass this Valentine's day. Dancing is good for two reasons. First, it is a great form of exercise, and increases heart health. Secondly, It just feels great!  Dancing is a cathartic experience because it raises your endorphins. There are no reasons to be solemn this day.

   3. Movie Night

This movie night you're going to host is not going to be just another ordinary movie night. It's a movie night of love.

Before you think, "I hate chick flicks and love stories," you can stop that thought before it progresses. This movie night is going to celebrate our love for females in leadership roles. Movies that highlight the importance of women in the world. One of my favorite movies to watch is The Intern. If you don't have amazon prime get it! Because you can get these movies for the "low low" that last forever!

Google a list of movies and make another movie payist. Watch your spirits heighten while you become empowered through these ladies' experiences.

   4. Wine-Down

If you are familiar with the show, Insecure then you know exactly what this is. If not, a wine down is
wine down
night where you invite your girlfriends to come by and you wind down (wine down), from the struggles of the day or the week.

This Valentine's day gather a few of your friends and wind down from the holiday itself. To spice things up a bit try all of the wine's with names that incorporate love, like Chateau Julien French Kiss, Mouton Noir Rosé Love Drunk, and my favorite Mi Amore!

Take a couple sips and discuss what love truly means to you as a woman. You'll be surprised how everyone has a different perception on love.

  5. Photo Shoot Time

Pictures last a lifetime, so why not make an event out of it. Phone up some of your friends, coordinate complementary outfits and go take some pictures. You don't always need a partner to make you feel loved or to take amazing pictures. Show off your gratitude for yourself or even your friends with photo documentation. If you don't want to go to an actual photographer check out the Panasonic Lumix ZS50. It takes Amazing selfies and its not as high tech as the other cameras you hear people talk about. (It's a great vlogging camera for those of my aspiring vloggers out there)

5 years from now you'll look back at the photos and remember the fun experience you had with your friends or yourself on the day of love.

6. Grab bag

It always feels great to receive a gift. Just because you're single you don't have to miss out on a gift exchange.

I remember one year I bought myself flowers and a box of chocolates and had them delivered to my door. No one should love you more than you love yourself.

I didn't have to depend on someone to send me the things I knew I deserved, so instead of waiting I sent them to myself.

Perhaps you want to share the gift giving experience. All you need is two other friends to participate in grab bag. Grab bag is the equivalent of secret santa for those of you who aren't familiar. Put all of your names in a hat and choose a name.

Whoever you pick is the person you will be purchasing a love gift for. The gifts don't have to be serious they can be gag gifts. It's just something to express your appreciation for your friend.

This guide is in no way a comprehensive guide because there are always many things you can do on Valentines day as a single gal.
